Shelter & Housing Emergencies

Emergency shelter in Chicago: call 311 or (312) 744-5000 and ask for shelter. Have your household names and size ready and write down your request number. The city runs 50+ shelters with 3,000+ beds; wait times can be long, so call back to check your status.
Behind on rent or facing eviction? Call 311 and ask for "short-term help" to reach the Homelessness Prevention Call Center. The City's Rental Assistance Program serves Chicago residents regardless of immigration status (funds are limited).
