Hausa Koko 800g – Homefresh Spiced Millet Porridge Mix

Hausa Koko is Ghana's spiced millet porridge, the warm breakfast sold at street stalls every morning with koose and bofrot. This Homefresh Hausa Koko mix (800 g) lets you make it at home in minutes: whisk, cook and sweeten. Millet is a naturally gluten-free grain.

How to make Hausa Koko from the mix

1. Mix a few spoons of the powder with a little cool water to a smooth paste (no lumps).
2. Pour in boiling water while stirring, then cook on low heat, stirring, until it thickens.
3. Sweeten with sugar and add evaporated milk if you like. Top with roasted groundnuts.

Follow the ratios on the pack. For a thicker koko use less water; for a drinkable koko use more.

What to eat with it

In Ghana, Hausa Koko comes with koose (bean fritters), bofrot (puff puff) or bread, plus a handful of groundnuts. Try it with our Nkatie Burger peanut snack.
