Bitter Kola (Garcinia Kola) – Traditional African Kola Nut, 2oz

$5.00 USD

2 reviews

Bitter kola (Garcinia kola) is a traditional West and Central African nut known for its bold, naturally bitter taste. Whole bitter kola nuts are a pantry staple in many Nigerian, Ghanaian, Cameroonian and Congolese homes, shared with guests, chewed after meals, and used in cultural ceremonies.

Why shoppers choose our bitter kola

  • Authentic whole nuts imported from West Africa
  • Naturally bitter, firm texture, with nothing added
  • Buy 1, 2, 5 or 10 packs and save more with every bundle
  • Ships in about 2 business days across the U.S., or pick up at our Chicago store

How to eat bitter kola

  1. Rinse the nut and peel off the thin brown outer skin.
  2. Bite off a small piece and chew slowly. The bitterness is strong at first and softens as you chew.
  3. Many people enjoy it on its own, after a meal, or alongside kola nut when welcoming guests.

Bitter kola vs. kola nut: what's the difference?

They're often confused, but they are different plants. Bitter kola (Garcinia kola) is small, brown and intensely bitter. Kola nut (Cola nitida or Cola acuminata) is larger, pink, red or white, has a milder bitter-sweet taste, and naturally contains caffeine.

Storage

Keep the nuts in a cool, dry place in a sealed bag. Refrigerate to keep them fresh longer.

The cookies got wet, in my opinion; they're dry and have yellow residue on them. Please make sure we protect them properly before shipping them here.

Customer photo review of Cocoa butter Hand and Body Cream 460ml by Princess Cocoa Paa

I bought this in Ghana 6 years ago, and was devastated that I couldn't find it anywhere in the US. Its great that I found a site that holds it. Its extremely moisturizing and silky, it makes my skin feel and smell fantastic. It has a strong coco butter scent, but it isn't pure coco butter. So if you're looking for that, this isn't the product for you. Its like a coco butter lotion.

Customer photo review of Teo Sheito Hot Pepper Sauce | Authentic Ghanaian Heat

My order arrived on time and was surprisingly well packaged. I was worried because I’ve ordered from other African sellers online, and my packages have arrived broken due to poor packaging or without tracking updates. I used this order as a test, and I’ll definitely be ordering more from Yado soon.
