Frequently asked questions

Is hibiscus tea the same as bissap, sobolo or zobo?

It is the same flower. Bissap, sobolo, zobo and Jamaican sorrel are drinks made from dried hibiscus, usually brewed strong with ginger or spices and served cold. This is the quick tea-bag version.

Does hibiscus tea have caffeine?

No. Hibiscus is naturally caffeine-free.

What does hibiscus tea taste like?

Tart and fruity, a bit like cranberry. Many people add honey, sugar, ginger or mint.

Can I drink hibiscus tea cold?

Yes. Brew it strong, sweeten it while hot, then chill and serve over ice.

Does it contain peanuts?

The package says it may contain peanut shell fragments. If you have a peanut allergy, choose another tea.
